This workshop invites students to shift how they see and paint—focusing not on the object, but on the shapes, light, and atmosphere that surround it. Using layered washes and preserved light, participants will create luminous abstract and semi-abstract watercolor compositions where form emerges from negative space. The process emphasizes observation, mindfulness, and trusting the natural flow of watercolor.

In fact, in this class you will create an acrylic paint artwork using only palette knives on an 11” x 14” stretched canvas. No brushes allowed. Develop the skill to use your palette knives for backgrounds, midgrounds, and foregrounds.

Surrounded by cypress trees, lush vegetation, Spanish moss and an alligator or two, you’ll enjoy creating the perfect Florida abode, accessible by boat, of course.
